JobFlow vs Fergus (2026): An Honest Comparison for Irish Businesses

Updated August 2026 · 6 min read

Disclosure first: we build JobFlow, so read this knowing where we stand. Fergus is a mature job management platform built in New Zealand and used by trade businesses in several markets. JobFlow takes the same approach for a different country: it's built specifically around how Irish trade businesses quote, schedule, invoice and get paid. That's the real comparison here. Not which product is better, but which country's working reality each one is designed around.

* RTD = the Return of Trading Details, the annual VAT breakdown every VAT-registered business in Ireland has to file. Fergus details from their pricing page and homepage as checked in August 2026; their plans, names and prices change, so confirm current figures on their site. "Not advertised" means exactly that: we could not find the feature in their public materials, not that we have tested their product.

The short answer

If you want Fergus's mature scheduling, reporting depth and supplier ecosystem, and nothing Irish-specific is on your list, it deserves a serious look. If your business runs on Irish VAT, Eircodes and euro payments, the differences below start to stack up, because none of those are add-ons in JobFlow. They are what it is made of.

Pricing: the difference is structure

Fergus prices per user, per tier, with paid add-ons around the edges: certificates, text bundles, contractor access and timesheet-only users each carry their own price, and its pricing displays in your region's currency rather than a euro figure on the page. None of that is unusual in this market, but the real monthly cost depends on headcount, tier and add-ons, so price the tier you would actually need. On their own comparison table the Basic plan excludes files and photos on jobs, checklists, tasks, purchase orders, job phases and essentially the entire reporting stack.

JobFlow is one price: €59 a month plus VAT with two users included, then €10 a month per extra user. Certificate and document tracking, WhatsApp messages, priority support, every feature: included. The number on this page is the number on your invoice, in euro.

On payment fees the structures differ too. Fergus processes card payments through its own payment service at its published per-transaction rate. JobFlow adds no payment margin at all: you connect your own Stripe account and pay Stripe's rates directly, and taking payment by ordinary bank transfer costs nothing. We deliberately don't print the two rates side by side, because a dollar card-market rate and a European one are not like-for-like.

Where Fergus is stronger

Fair is fair. Fergus says it is trusted by 25,000 or more tradies around the world, and it holds strong satisfaction ratings (4.6 on Capterra at the time of writing). Users consistently praise its visual scheduling. Its Professional tier carries a deep stack of reporting, from quote reports through business and financial reporting, and its supplier integrations run deep in its home markets. A larger Irish firm that wants heavyweight reporting and doesn't care about Irish specifics could be well served by it.

Where JobFlow is different for Irish trade businesses

Fergus's own materials show how thoroughly it is adapted to the markets it was built for, down to SWMS support (Safe Work Method Statements, an Australian and New Zealand safety document) and support teams based in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. That is not a flaw; it is what good localisation looks like. JobFlow applies the same logic to Ireland.

Every invoice line carries the correct Irish VAT. Your VAT summary follows the VAT basis you are actually on, cash receipts or invoice basis, and the RTD export is one click, alongside the Accountant Pack your accountant gets at year end. Addresses and routing are Eircode-aware. Customer messages can go by WhatsApp, included rather than metered. Timesheets handle Irish public holidays and statutory leave accrual.

And JobFlow's live board shows the day as planned beside how it actually ran, so you can see where schedules slipped, which jobs overran and where the time went. We couldn't find that view anywhere else; the closest thing is spreadsheet-style reporting in enterprise platforms like ServiceTitan.

Which should you choose?

Choose Fergus if you want a mature, well-liked platform with deep reporting tiers, you're comfortable pricing per user plus add-ons in a geo-displayed currency, and Irish-specific handling isn't a priority.

Choose JobFlow if you're an Irish trade business that wants Irish VAT, the RTD and Eircodes handled natively, one all-in price in euro, and WhatsApp included. That's the business we built it for, whether that's plumbing, electrical or anything else on the road.

Both offer a 14-day free trial, so the honest way to decide is to run a few real jobs through each.

FAQ

What is the difference between JobFlow and Fergus?

Fergus is a mature New Zealand-built job management platform with deep reporting and supplier integrations in its home markets, priced per user across tiers with paid add-ons. JobFlow is Irish-built with one all-in price of €59 a month plus VAT, and handles Irish specifics natively: Irish VAT on every line, both VAT bases, the RTD export and Eircode-aware routing. Which suits you depends on whether those Irish specifics matter to your business.

Is Fergus available in Ireland?

Fergus sells worldwide and an Irish business can sign up. Its pricing displays by region rather than in euro on its global page, its own homepage lists its support teams as New Zealand, Australia and the UK, and we found no Irish VAT handling, RTD export or Eircode features advertised. Check their current site for anything newer.

How much does Fergus cost compared to JobFlow?

As of August 2026, Fergus starts from $53 per user per month for its Basic plan and $75 for Professional, with certificates, SMS, contractor and timesheet users priced as extras. JobFlow is €59 a month plus VAT with two users included, then €10 a month per extra user, with nothing sold separately. Always confirm current pricing on each site.

Does Fergus handle Irish VAT?

Fergus advertises no Irish-specific VAT features. JobFlow applies the correct Irish VAT on every line, supports both the cash receipts and invoice VAT bases, and exports the RTD (Return of Trading Details) summary in one click.

Can I switch from Fergus to JobFlow?

Yes. JobFlow imports customers, sites and jobs from CSV or Excel, the import validates before it commits and can be rolled back, and setup is included in the €59 plan rather than sold as onboarding. Run the two side by side on real jobs during the free trial before you move anything.

The bottom line

Fergus is a good product that was built for somewhere else, and it does not pretend otherwise. If the Irish parts of running a trade business are just paperwork you handle outside the software, that may not matter to you. If they are the parts that eat your evenings, that is the whole reason JobFlow exists.
